Why did you start this business?

"Living in a box just doesn't work with my kind of business. Not physically, emotionally, or spiritually. I believe we create our own destiny, but I realized I wasn't living my beliefs. By engaging a variety of very talented individuals, along with working independently, I get to work with a great team. This alliance gives us the flexibility and adaptability to take on a wide variety of creative challenges. Yet we're still on our own paths."

What is your goal for a_priori creative?

"It is my main objective to market products and services that provide solutions to the variety of resource management problems people face on a daily basis. Once we understand
that what we sell are ideas, we then elevate marketing and communication to effectively promote those ideas that will
make a positive impact on the ways that we live our lives."

—Kirsten Peterson, Art Director/Designer

What do you enjoy most about your work?

"I don't distinguish between my work and my play, so I think the question goes away. It's not about work, it's about living and pursuing what is interesting, fascinating and valuable. My interest is in applying intelligent technology to impact the world positively in terms of sustainability and human advancement."

Herbert F. Shipman, Marketing Consultant

Tell us a little about your experience.

"Originally from California, I have lived in the Four Corners region of the desert southwest since 1994. I have been an illustrator and graphic designer for more than 25 years. Part of my education included a stint at the San Francisco Art Institute, where I was awarded a scholarship to attend, as well as illustration courses at the San Francisco Academy of Art. Each school had a distinctive approach to education, the S.F.A.I. emphasizing "fine art", the Academy "commercial art". Both approaches helped broaden my perspectives into the art world."

Rick Wheeler, Illustrator

Describe your ideal project.

"An ideal project may come in different shapes and sizes, but it has one element: It challenges me. I like to learn something new or be reminded of classic principles as I work through a project and discuss it with the designated team. I strive to polish the product to perfection so it communicates effectively. It is satisfying and exciting to see our work dynamically out in the marketplace bringing in customers for our clients. Like Mark Twain says, 'Thunder is good, thunder is impressive, but it's lightning that does the work!'"

Andrea Stavros, Copyeditor/Proofreader/Writer

What would you like to change?

"If I could change one thing in this life, I would add a rainbow to every rainy day. Rainy days are often seem kind of quiet and somber. People don't want to go out. People seem to talk less. But, when I see a rainbow, it seems to restore my mood with the wonder and beauty of our natural world. I guess that's why I enjoy Digital Retouching so much. I can manipulate any photograph to make it better, brighter, more perfect, more beautiful, more colorful. I can even add a rainbow to a rainy day photograph. I hope we will have the opportunity to make your business communications as moving as any rainbow."
